It’s been a year. There’s lots to be grateful for, but unfortunately, that gratitude has been brought into balance by chaos and heartache around the globe.
This delicate balance is something I know all too well after spending the last four years writing my book. Four years of delving into my past thirty-five years created a seismic shift, cracking me open with compassion. It’s the lessons I learned that I’m excited to share and announce - I’m done. The book has been rewritten, self-edited, spell and grammar checked.
Today, I submitted my final manuscript for copywriting. The next step will be sharing it with literary agents and publishers. In total, there are 39 chapters and nearly 140,000 words.
There’s so much more story to share. Ultimately, cooperation with professional editors and publishers will mean significant changes. I’m excited to see what comes from this next step so you can see the full work for yourself.
ALSO - I will be discontinuing subscription fees for my Substack. I can’t in good conscious collect contributions if I’m not committing myself to regularly sharing my work. I’ll still post an occasional Dirty Water Diary and essay, but regular contributions won’t be possible because I won’t have time to post.
In January, I’ll be traveling to Park City because my latest film, Smash or Pass, was accepted into Slamdance Film Festival 2024.
Here’s the screening info for Smash or Pass at Slamdance 2024
Fri, Jan 19th, 8:45 PM @ Slamdance HQ @ The Yarrow - Theater B
Mon, Jan 22nd, 6:30 PM @ The Student Union Theater @ University of Utah
I’m also excited to announce that two screenplays I’m developing are making their rounds with producers and studio executives for potential production in 2024.
I hope my creative efforts in crafting positive, authentic, entertaining stories can make their way to an audience soon. For me, it’s the best way I can counter the suffering I see.
I hope this holiday season brings you balance, joy, patience, kindness, and, most of all, time to reflect on how lucky we are to be alive. Celebrate, spread love, and be good people. I’m rooting for you - just as so many of you have continued to root me on through all my heartfelt creative endeavors.
Happy Holidays and Merry New Year
With love, Cory
