Sometimes when falling asleep, I’ll scroll the endless droll of TikTok. Seldom do I come across something that blows my mind. A few nights ago, this woman asked, “Why is fresh coffee delicious but disgusting when it grows cold?” GREAT QUESTION!
To my surprise, a coffee roasting ninja Dan McLaughlin piped in with a fresh cup of knowledge to answer the bitter brew query. Click the vid below to hear for yourself.

On my not-so-busy days, I may drink half my french press and save the rest for the afternoon, and that last cup always tastes meh-to-yuck. Well, now I know why! I guess the only thing to do is drink all the morning coffee. Then, make more in the afternoon!
Or, if you want your coffee flavor to last, brew it cold. Here’s an easy recipe I found to make cold brew at home.
CORY’S COLD BREW
Fill a french press with your usual grinds, then add cool water. (NOT HOT)
Cover, but don’t press the plunger.
Let sit on countertop, i.e., Room Temp overnight (approx 24hrs).
Press the grinds and serve over ice. - The flavor will stay fresh in the fridge, and you get the bonus of a bigger caffeine kick!
I always just put the remaining morning coffee on ice the next day with some half and half. It’s “good enough.” I’ll have to try cold brewing it with the Cory method and test out the difference.
